At the practice of Dr. Christopher Daniel, we take our patients’ safety and comfort very seriously. We want to make sure that every patient is comfortable during every step of treatment, which is why we offer a variety of anesthesia options. Anesthesia can be used to both calm your nerves before surgery as well as to prevent you from feeling any discomfort.
When you visit our office for your consultation appointment, Dr. Daniel will discuss all of your anesthesia options with you. He will thoroughly examine your condition, review your health history, and take your preferences into account before determining the best anesthesia technique for your needs.
Types of Anesthesia
We provide several types of anesthesia, all of which are designed to help you feel safe and comfortable during treatment. No matter which sedation you choose, our team will ensure you feel at ease for your procedure. You can learn a little bit about each anesthesia technique below.
Local anesthesia is an extremely common form of anesthesia. It is most often used during minor dental procedures, such as fillings. Local anesthesia is used to numb the surgical area, which means you can remain awake without experiencing any discomfort.
Nitrous oxide, also referred to as laughing gas, is typically used in addition to local or IV anesthesia. Nitrous oxide is designed to calm your nerves rather than prevent pain, which is why it is usually paired with another form of sedation. Dr. Daniel will administer nitrous oxide through a breathing apparatus.
IV anesthesia allows patients to sleep comfortably while Dr. Daniel performs treatment. Many wisdom teeth patients choose to undergo IV sedation. Most patients who chose IV anesthesia wake up after the procedure not even realizing it had happened.
