About Dr. Daniel
Dr. Christopher Daniel knew he wanted to pursue a healthcare career from a young age. His drive culminated from a range of inspirations, including both of his parents’ careers. As an office manager at a dental office, Dr. Daniel’s mother exposed him to dentistry early on. His father, a cabinet maker, helped Dr. Daniel realize his passion for working with his hands. As he got older, Dr. Daniel realized that entering the healthcare field would allow him to work with his hands while getting to take care of people and improve their lives. His mother took him to tour dental school in San Antonio, where he grew up, and after meeting the dean, it was an easy decision to apply.
Fundamentally, Dr. Daniel was always interested in a career that would let him take care of people in a hands-on way. Oral surgery was the perfect combination of medicine, dentistry, and hands-on work that Dr. Daniel was looking for. He finds his work to be extremely rewarding because of the fulfilling aspect of treating patients in pain. After treatment, many patients’ personalities and appearances change drastically to reflect their newfound happiness and confidence, all due to their lack of pain. Dr. Daniel loves seeing this results and knowing he has made a positive impact on his patients’ lives. Knowing his patients appreciate the time and effort he puts into caring for them makes his work incredibly worthwhile.
Dr. Daniel attended the University California, Davis, for his undergraduate degree before returning to his hometown of San Antonio for dental school. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1994 and graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio Dental School in 2002. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, Dr. Daniel felt that earning a medical degree was integral to his ability to provide the best patient care. Oral surgery is such a fine line between medicine and dentistry that Dr. Daniel felt it would improve his communication and understanding with patients. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Texas, Houston with his medical degree.
All oral and maxillofacial surgeons are required to finish a minimum four-year residency program before they begin practicing their specialty. Dr. Daniel chose to remain at the University of Texas, Houston to complete this residency. During this program, he was exposed to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including anesthesia administration. He gained hands-on experience treating a wide range of oral and facial conditions and learned to administer all forms of in-office sedation safely.
Dr. Daniel is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As a board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Daniel is recognized for his exemplary status and ability to meet the highest standards of care. To earn a board certification, oral surgeons must complete four oral exams and a written exam, which are designed to test their extensive knowledge of the oral and maxillofacial specialty. After earning their initial certification, surgeons must then recertify every few years to prove they are continuing their education, adapting the newest and best techniques, and maintaining the highest standards of care. Dr. Daniel is also a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. These two prestigious certifications show Dr. Daniel’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care when administering anesthesia and monitoring his patients during and after their treatment.
